Michael Signer is Director of the Homeland Security Presidential Transition Initiative, a joint project of Third Way and the Center for American Progress. In 2007-08 he was Senator John Edwards’ foreign policy adviser on his presidential campaign. He was also Deputy Counselor to Governor Mark Warner of Virginia and an attorney at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr in Washington, D.C. He teaches as an adjunct professor at Virginia Tech. Dr. Signer holds a Ph.D. in political science from U.C., Berkeley, a J.D. from the University of Virginia, and a B.A., from Princeton University. His articles have appeared in The Washington Post, USA Today, and Democracy: A Journal of Ideas and he has been interviewed by The Washington Post, NPR, and MSNBC, among others. He lives in Arlington, Virginia.
